Pregnancy Acupuncture
Pregnancy Acupuncture: Supporting Your Journey to Parenthood
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be used to assist with a wide range of pregnancy-related conditions, offering pregnant women a natural and effective alternative to medication. Treatments are gentle, relaxing, and tailored to your stage of pregnancy — from early support through to labour preparation and postpartum recovery.
Acupuncture may also be used for many of the discomforts often regarded as a “normal” part of pregnancy that simply have to be endured — when in fact, they can be safely and effectively treated.
Common conditions supported by acupuncture during pregnancy include:
- Threatened miscarriage and early pregnancy supportive care
- Nausea, vomiting, and hyperemesis gravidarum
- Heartburn and digestive discomfort
- Irritable uterus
- Intrauterine growth restriction
- Oligohydramnios & Polyhydramnios
- Constipation and hemorrhoids
- Varicose veins and vulval varicosities
- Headaches and migraines
- Stress management, anxiety, and depression
- Fatigue, exhaustion, and insomnia
- Swelling and itching in pregnancy
- Pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Sciatica, lower back pain, and pelvic pain
- Pubic symphysis dysfunction
- Breech and posterior positioned babies
- Labour preparation and overdue labour
- Postpartum recovery and breastfeeding issues
- C-section scar therapy and low milk supply/blocked ducts
Pre-birth acupuncture is particularly beneficial from 34 weeks onward. These weekly sessions help prepare your body for labour by encouraging cervical ripening, optimizing baby position, balancing hormones, and reducing stress. These treatments promote optimal energy and stamina in preparation for labour. Research and clinical experience show that women who receive pre-birth acupuncture often experience shorter, more efficient labours and a reduced need for medical intervention.
To ensure you get the appointment time that works best for you please book these appointments well in advance, as it is easier to cancel than book last minute.
Induction Acupuncture consists of using very specific acupuncture points with the use of electrical stimulation and belly massage to induce contractions. This specific treatment is successful when there are signs of labour, labour has stalled, or a western medical induction is imminent.
Hair Trace Mineral Analysis
- Hair analysis is a valuable tool for determining mineral levels and ratios in the body through the hair over a period of 3 months of hair growth
- Normal mineral levels have been established through extensive research, with specific values indicating health or imbalance
- Deviations from these normal levels can lead to various health issues
- Hair tests can guide nutritional programs, lifestyle changes, and proper mineral supplementation to improve health and restore balance
Importance of Minerals
- Minerals are the foundation of all life and play a critical role in bodily functions.
- A single mineral imbalance can trigger a chain reaction affecting all other minerals in the body.
- Proper mineral levels and ratios are essential for maintaining health and preventing disease.
- By restoring optimal mineral levels in the body, we can eradicate disease and restore health
