What is pregnancy massage?
Pregnancy massage, also called prenatal massage, adapts standard massage therapy to a changing body.
The positioning is the key difference. After 13 weeks of pregnancy we use pregnancy bolsters and side lying positioning to support both you and baby, rather than having you lie face down or flat on your back. That positioning is what makes the treatment both safe and genuinely comfortable.
Our therapists are trained to adapt each session to your needs and your stage of pregnancy.
What does pregnancy massage help with?
- Lower back pain
- Hip and pelvic tension
- Leg swelling
- Fatigue
- Sleep quality
- Circulation
- General stress and anxiety through pregnancy
Beyond physical relief, pregnancy massage encourages deep relaxation and supports better rest, helping both mother and baby experience more calm through each stage.
What to expect in your session
- Tell us how far along you are when you book, so the room is set up correctly.
- Intake covers your stage, any complications, and where the discomfort sits.
- You are positioned side lying with bolsters supporting your belly, back and knees.
- Treatment focuses on the areas carrying the load: lower back, hips, legs, shoulders and neck.
- Your therapist may reposition you partway through to reach the other side.
Who should not book pregnancy massage
Check with your physician, midwife or obstetrician before booking if you have a high-risk pregnancy, preeclampsia or high blood pressure, a history of preterm labour, placenta previa, unexplained bleeding or cramping, severe swelling that came on suddenly, or a known blood clot or clotting disorder. Massage is not a substitute for prenatal care, and sudden severe swelling or headache needs medical assessment rather than a massage booking.

Many clients receive massage in the first trimester without issue, but if your pregnancy is high risk or you have had complications, check with your care provider first. Always tell your therapist you are pregnant, even very early.
No. After 13 weeks you are positioned on your side with bolsters. This is more comfortable than a belly cutout table for most people and avoids pressure on the abdomen and major blood vessels.
Sciatic-type pain through the hip and down the leg is one of the most common reasons clients book prenatal massage. Your therapist will work the glutes, hips and lower back to reduce the pressure.
Yes. Postnatal massage helps with the demands of carrying and feeding a newborn. Mention any C-section recovery so your therapist works around the incision site.
